Custom windows can add architectural intrigue to your home, as well as additional light for a more open atmosphere. However, custom windows – whether just one or multiple pieces – can be an overwhelming purchase. It helps to boost your confidence when you work with an experienced representative. Not only will you get a beautiful result your love, you know that the experience will be exceptional as well. Here are a few questions to ask before giving your business to a custom window representative.

Ask about the process.

Purchasing a custom window is an entire process, from design choice to installation. Ask your representative what that process looks like, and how involved the representative will be. Will your representative be readily available if you have questions or concerns?

Ask about the follow-up.

Once the installation has occurred, will your custom window representative follow up with a visit or phone call to talk about your experience? Knowing you have someone who won’t just ditch you after you pass off the final check can help you be confident you are working with a reputable company.

Ask about references.

Don’t be afraid to ask for references or customer feedback that isn’t on their website. You can ask your representative if they can pass along a phone number for a few customers they have worked within the past six months. It’s nice to hear from past customers, and you can hear a customer’s perspective.

Ask about installation.

While you already asked about the full process, it is wise to discuss installation. Ask what a “normal” schedule looks like for the installation process, as well as if the company uses laborers who have extensive experience with custom windows.

Ask about pricing and warranty options.

Talk to the representative about realistic pricing for the windows you are looking at, and if there are other options that could be less expensive for your budget. Be honest about your budget and how much you want to spend. Also, ask about warranty options and costs that are associated with that choice.

Ask about company history.

Finally, ask about the company’s history and reputation in the community. You don’t want to enter into business with a company that has a sketchy past or one that will disappear a month after your project is complete. Look for a company with an established relationship with the Chicagoland area.
