Dreary winter skies and sunless days can quickly give even the most experienced Chicagoan a case of the winter blues. Fortunately, you can add pops of color to make your home a bright spot in your neighborhood. If you are ready to experiment with your outdoor décor, consider starting with your windows. Not only can your window accents make a big difference in your home’s curb appeal, you can also easily add architectural interest for little investment.

Here are a few ways to add a bit of flair to your home’s windows. Remember, here at Rusco, we specialize in giving our customers custom windows and an experience that leaves them wondering why it took so long to make the investment. If your windows aren’t already a favorite part of your home, give us a call to see what you are missing.

Add some light
Windows offer a peek into the home, and cozy homes often feature flickering lights at the windows. The holiday season is the perfect time to add a bit of light to the inside of your home’s windows. A simple series of flameless candles on the inside window sill can add a warm glow to your home, and costs relatively nothing.

Don’t forget your window boxes
Many homeowners love utilizing window box planters in the spring and summertime. However, your window boxes don’t have to be overflowing with ivy in August and then bare in January. In fact, your window boxes can look even better in the winter months. Consider adding an evergreen component to your planters, along with sprigs of bright red berries. It is festive for the entire winter season and can offer a lovely pop of color to an otherwise dreary landscape.

Architectural interest
For a larger investment, consider changing the entire feel of your home’s architecture with a few well placed, custom designed, windows from Rusco. Varying from traditional square or rectangle windows can make a huge difference in your home; we love working with clients seeking to add an arch or other design element that makes the new window truly unique.

Give us a call to talk to our experienced team. We can’t wait to show you your options and build a window that is perfect for your home.
