If it’s true that your home is your castle, then your windows should be your crowning jewels. If you’re considering replacing your windows, why not also consider enhancing their style, as well?

Chances are that your home already has at least one of the basic window styles available: casement, slider, or double-hung. But there are a few more styles of windows that can really upgrade the look and feel of your home by adding warmth, light and space.

Form meets function with Bay or Bow Windows by Pella or Marvin. Both of these windows are a wonderful choice as they not only can showcase a beautiful view to the outside, but they also create a focal point on the exterior of your home.

  • Bay windows are made up of a main window in the middle and casement or double-hung windows on either side.
  • Bow windows have 4 or more casement windows that extend outwards.

Bay or Bow windows give your home architectural interest with gorgeous curves and possible extra seating. Since the curve extends outwards past the wall of your home, the extra seating comes in under the window with a bench. This bench is great for extra seating at your kitchen table, or to serve as a cozy reading nook in your living or family room. If a bench is not desired, then the extra living space is sure to be appreciated.

Another architectural jewel is the Garden window by Thermal Industries. This type of window is much smaller, and therefore used in a smaller space, such as a kitchen or bath. This window brings the outside in by extending outwards, but provides more of a shelf space – great for displaying collectibles in your bath or growing fresh herbs or flowers in your kitchen. This style of window will have smaller vent windows on either side to let the fresh air in.

Consider one of these stylized windows for a custom look and feel to your home as they are designed to maximize the amount of outside light brought into your home. Any of these styles would be beautiful focal points for your living room, kitchen or bathrooms.
