With summer in full swing, it’s not always easy to remember that the cold weather is right around the corner, particularly in Chicagoland! There’s still time during these warm weeks to ensure that your windows are clean, fresh, and ready for another season of ice and snow. Summer is the perfect time to inspect, refresh, and maybe even replace your windows to ensure that you’re getting the maximum benefit of your energy bills and the best view of your property.

Be sure to take the time now so that you aren’t dealing with the repercussions in the winter.

Products and Frequency

A clean window can often act as a complete refresh on your whole room. Start with the glass – both inside and outside. When cleaning windows, choose a product that leaves a streak-free shine, cuts grease, and wipes easily. Particularly on the external side of the window, dirt and grime quickly build up. This means you need to pay just as much attention to your outside-facing windows as your inside facing ones. With so many cleaning solutions and products on the market, it can be hard to choose, but start with this list and try several until you find your favorite.

While you are cleaning your windows, on’t forget about screens! Screens can be quickly cleaned with a vacuum, or pop them out and deep clean with a stiff brush and soapy water. Screen cleaning should happen at least once a year; you’ll be amazed at the difference it makes. Pollen and dust slowly build up and create a cloudy effect that you’ll be sure to notice once it’s gone.

Time for A Clean Slate

As you clean your windows, do a quick inspection. Is there moisture between the panes? Do you feel a draft even when the window is closed? If so, your seal is compromised, and a new window is the best option! We have you covered, and can help you choose and install a new window that will lower energy costs and prevent mold buildup.
