Your house’s entryways say a lot about your style and hospitality. Nothing says “welcome” more than a well decorated door or porch area. This summer, have some fun with your doors and entrances to your home by adding some touches that will keep your guests feeling welcomed and cozy. Here are a few of our favorite trends for the summer we think you should try.

Add some whimsy
Summer is a great time of year to add a little bit of whimsy to your front entrance area. “Plant” spinning pinwheels in a cute pot to add some interactive fun, or hide a silly garden gnome near your welcome mat. Speaking of welcome mats, trade yours out for one with a summer theme or saying to show your personality. Finally, add a tin bucket for guests to put their flip flops or sandals in so they don’t drag beach sand indoors.

Add some color
You can get away with a lot of colorful décor in the summer months. If you have wanted to experiment with a bold color for your front door, this is the time to try it out. You can also add pops of color with a painted rocking chair, colorful wreath, or vibrant pots full of plants.

Add some life
Now that winter is over, be sure you are power washing away the grime from your entryway and adding a bit of seasonal life. Porches are perfect for pots full of ivy, flowers, or even a few container vegetable gardens. The greenery can make even a traditionally dark colored door more lively for the season.

As you begin transforming your entryways for the summer, you may notice that a new door is in order. Adding a new door, whether to the front of your home, the back of your home, or elsewhere, will improve your home’s value and curb appeal. You will love your investment and your neighbors will notice the difference as well!
