Is your roofing in good condition? Most of the time, people don’t think about their roofs unless there is a problem. If you have concerns about your roof and you feel that you might need to have it replaced, you’ll want to look for some of the signs.

Check the Interior of Your Home

Go to the attic, or the top floor of your home if you don’t have an attic. You will want to look for water stains and streaks, which could indicate that you have a leak. This can be a sign that you need to get a new roof, or that you need to have some repairs sooner rather than later.

Check Your Shingles

Next, you want to head up to the roof to get a look at your shingles. The shingles should all be laying flat against the roof, and they should all be intact. If you notice that the shingles are in bad shape or they are missing, then the roof will need some attention quickly. It’s also a good idea to look in your gutters and downspouts for shingle granules—made from minerals and crushed stone. If there are granules, it’s a sign that the roof may need a replacement.

If the shingles still look fine, but you notice that they are discolored or have algae growth, it could be a sign of water damage. They will need to be replaced, and an expert will need to examine the rest of the roof to see whether the entire thing needs to be replaced or just repaired.

Look for a Sagging in Your Roofing

If the roof is sagging, it means that it’s suffered quite a lot of damage or wear and tear from age. When you see this, your roof is past the end of its life. There is a chance that parts of the roof have started to rot or are getting weaker. You need to get a new roof before your current roof collapses.

If you do need to have a new roof or at least a repair, you will want to get in touch with the professionals at Rusco Windows & Doors. Have an expert come to your property to look at the roof and provide a consultation. They can let you know where the problems are and what you should do about them. Sometimes, you might just need a repair. Other times, the best option is to get a new roof.
