This can lead to the development of black mold, which can be extremely dangerous in terms of the health of everyone in your household.

Structural Issues or Damage to the House

Older windows were much thinner and typically trimmed out with some sort of aluminum, which are not strong enough to support the weight of a modern window AC unit. These units can weigh anywhere from 40 pounds to 75 pounds. This can cause the window’s casing to drag or pull, which can cause the wall to crack or warp. If not adequately supported, the weight can also damage the siding of your home if you are not careful.
