Your master bedroom should feel like a relaxing retreat where you can get a good night’s rest. However, the master bedroom is also one of the most neglected room when it comes to updates or other projects. Many homeowners pour their money into kitchen renovations, bathroom updates, and other projects throughout the home. This year could finally be the year you add a few new touches to your master bedroom. After all, you are worth it!

Updates to your master bedroom can include a fresh coat of paint, luxury sheets, or a custom closet. However, a well placed custom window or door can also create a bit of additional style to your master bedroom retreat. Here are a few trends to consider.

Unique Shaped Windows

You can create a statement by updating your current and more traditional windows with a custom set. Try a large wall of windows or even long rectangular windows that go from one wall to another. You can also experiement with different shapes and sizes of windows throughout your master bedroom to create drama. While you are updating the windows in your bedroom, don’t forget to extend that into your master bathroom as well!

Sliders or French Doors

If you have a patio or deck off your master bedroom, update your doors to give the space an entirely new look. Traditional french doors or sliders can give you more access to natural light as well as make your outdoor space look even more inviting.

Window Treatments Built In

The master bedroom needs privacy, but you may not like window covering options. For a more sleek and modern look, consider a window with the shades already built in between the panes of glass. This option is maintenance free and makes it easy to let the light in – or block the sunlight out – whenever you need it.
